The dt 990 was a poor choice imo. For the price bracket it gets outperformed but the hd 560S or the dt880 600 ohm, although you need a better amp then the fiio k5 pro to drive those, which will cost extra, youd need something like an adam to drive them well.

GC7 and DT990 600 ohms, volume at 50% is too loud most of time. GC7 should be able to get peak 113dB SPL to your headphones (I measured 2.4V on the headphone output before it started clipping). Decently mastered music or games would have average level of 15dB or so below the peak, which would be 98 dB SPL RMS.
DT 990 isn’t anywhere close to being as unforgiving as the 1990 as far as being analytical and 990 is much sharper and has more sparkle. It doesn’t really sound much like the 1990 they sound really different from one another. Also 1990 is in the $600 price range while you can find DT 990s for like $120.
Because of my usecase I am leaning towards the DT 990 PRO's. Amazon currently sells a 'limited-edition' (highly doubt it's actually limited edition but I prefer the look of the black ones and they're both 139euros), a black edition of the DT 990 PRO's in 250ohm, thinking of getting those in combination with the Sound BlasterX G6.
I use DT 990 (also 250 Ohm) and I can tell you if you are in need of more volume, go for lower Ohm headphones. Or get a small headphone amp. Not saying DT's won't do you good. I run mine thru 18i20. Not the same interface but mine specs that usage up to 250 is fine. Prior 990 I was using a few AKGs with lower impedance. They were 'louder'.
