From the Lauterbrunnen train station, walk up the hill to the cable car station. Cable cars depart to Grutschalp every 30 minutes and the trip takes only 5 minutes. Youâll return to Lauterbrunnen at the end of the day, so you have the option to explore the little town now, or when you come back.
To Grindelwald: Plan on about a 30 or 34-minute ride (things are slightly shorter via bus). There are regular bus and train routes between Grindelwald and Interlaken. To Wengen: Wengen is best reached via Lauterbrunnen, so get yourself there first, then plan on taking the funicular up to Wegen.
From Lauterbrunnen you will take the cog wheel train to Wengen which only takes another 12 minutes and trains depart every 30 minutes.Once you arrive in Wengen, you can just walk to your hotel or there are some taxiâs in the village. We arrived in Wengen by train from Lucerne.

3. Walk down from Wengen to Lauterbrunnen. Slightly steeper but an excellent path. A little more challenging. 1. Wengen south past Mary's cafe through Stalden and down to Trummelbach on the valley floor. 2. Train down to Lauterbrunnen short bus ride to Stechelberg then hike up to the Obersteinberg mountain hotel & resturant and back.
The walk to the restaurant at Schynigge Platte is less than 5 minutes and paved. If she canât do that amount of walking Iâd suggest Wengen is really not a good location, as it would require at least that amount of uphill/downhill walking to get to and from lodging/train station.
